2020-21 (FRESHMAN): Molenaar appeared in 13 games in his first season with the Huskies, tallying four points with one goal and three assists. He scored the first goal of his collegiate career in dramatic ashion, as he scored the game-tying goal in St. Cloud State's 5-4 win over Minnesota State in the NCAA Frozen Four. Molenaar tallied the first point of his collegiate career with an assist in the Huskies 5-1 win over Western Michigan on February 5.
Before SCSU: A 2018 graduate of Minnetonka High School, Molenaar played junior hockey in the USHL with Cedar Rapids and Tri-City during the 2019-20 season. In three seasons at Minnetonka H.S., Molenaar scored 46 goals and 29 assists. He capped his prep career in 2017-18 by scoring 27 goals and serving as a team captain at Minnetonka. Molenaar received the Herb Brooks Award at the 2018 MSHSL state tournament. In two seasons of play in the USHL, Molenaar scored 18 goals and 25 assists. He began his junior hockey career at Aberdeen of the NAHL in 2017-18...played for coach Sean Goldsworthy at Minnetonka H.S...team MVP and All-Conference in high school...helped Minnetonka win MSHSL state title in 2018...2X letterwinner in golf.
