Kelley Newell enters her fourth year as an assistant on the St. Cloud State coaching staff in 2024.
Newell brings international experience coaching for Israel National team from 2016-2019 and serving as a coach and teaching at Royalton HS (Minn.). She coaches and plays with Israeli teams in European Women’s Cup tournaments yearly, when possible. She has played/coached in Italy 3 times, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, and loves the memory of a bronze medal with her team at the tournament in France. She is a graduate of Bethel University and currently serves women, athletes, and coaches through her Way Maker ministry, including partnering with the Currynt Ministry on campus at SCSU. She continues to share the love of softball by doing softball clinics overseas. Kelley joined the St. Cloud State softball staff as a volunteer assistant in the fall of 2020.
A 2011 graduate of Bethel, Kelley earned a double major in Social Studies Education (5-12) and Political Science while minoring in Psychology. She eventually started getting involved in ministry locally as well as traveling overseas to coach softball. She played 4 years of softball at Bethel, ending her time as a captain of the team. She also had a one year of collegiate hockey experience from her time at Bethel.
Originally from Central Minnesota, Newell graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 2007. During high school she participated in basketball and participated and lettered in swimming and softball. She also earned awards for graduating with High Honors, Swim Team Captain, and State Swimming Alternate.
