Murray Makes it Happen! Huskies win 4-3 in OT

Anchorage, Alaska - St. Cloud State University (8-5-0, 6-3-0 WCHA) freshman forward Jimmy Murray lifted the Huskies to a 4-3 win with the game winner at 2:09 overtime at Alaska Anchorage (2-5-4, 0-4-3 OT) on Friday, Nov. 30.
In their first overtime game of the season, the Huskies did not appear to be in any danger of gaining two points in the game after falling behind 3-0 in the first period.
The Seawolves opened the scoring at 3:24 of the first period with a goal by Jordan Kwas with power play helpers from Quinn Sproule and Blake Tatchell. UAA moved it to 2-0 with a goal by Tyler Currier at 9:34 of the first period with assists from Chris Crowell and Blake Leask.
UAA ended their offense at 10:13 of the first period with a goal by Hayden Trupp.
The Huskies began their epic comeback at 7:38 of the second period with an even strength marker by Jonny Brodzinski. Teammates Kalle Kossila and Drew LeBlanc each notched assists on the play, which was Brozinski's third goal of the season.
At the start of the third period, Murray helped SCSU take the second step in its comeback with an even strength goal at :44. Cory Thorson and Nick Jensen both added assists on the play.
On the power play, SCSU tied the game up at 3-3 with a goal by David Morley at 17:24 of the third period. LeBlanc provided the lone assist on the play, which was Morley's first collegiate goal at SCSU. The assist moved LeBlanc's team-leading season total to 12 assists on the year.
Down the stretch neither team was able to score, which set the stage for the OT heriocs by Murray. SCSU added the game winner at 2:09 of the OT session with Murray bringing the win home with assists from Joey Holka and Thorson.
This was Murray's third goal of the season, while Holka now has five assists and Thorson now has four assists.
In the game, SCSU outshot the Seawolves 24-18. UAA outshot the Huskies 11-6 in the first period but the Huskies managed to shutdown the Seawolves by outshooting UAA 7-4 in the second period and 9-3 in the third period. In the final period, SCSU outshot UAA 2-0.
Both teams were 1-of-5 on the power play in the game.
SCSU's Ryan Faragher was the goalie of record for the Huskies with 15 saves in the contest. Rob Gunderson added 20 saves in the loss for UAA.
