St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey to Host Red/Black Scrimmage on Sept. 27 in Sartell

Fans will be able to watch the open scrimmage for free at the Sartell Scheels Athletic Complex
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Hockey will host its annual Red/Black Scrimmage at the Scheels Athletic Complex in Sartell on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 6:00 p.m. CT. This will be the public's first chance to the see this season's Huskies ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 season.
SCSU Men's Hockey enters a new era with Oliver hired as the program's fourth head coach of the Division-I era in April. A former Husky captain and the only player/coach on roster for both NCAA Frozen Four berths in program history, Oliver welcomes a roster filled with returners, transfers and freshmen ready to take the ice at the newly renovated Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Included in the group of returners is the forward line of junior Gavyn Thoreson (Andover, Minn.), sophomore Nolan Roed (White Bear Lake, Minn.) and sophomore Noah Urness (Roseau, Minn.), who all scored 18+ points. The line was able to grow together throughout the season, with 39 percent of their production coming in SCSU's final 10 games.
