#12/13 Huskies Score 4-0 Shutout in Bemidji

The #12/13 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (16-10-1, 13-5-1 WCHA) pushed its unbeaten streak to five games with a 4-0 shutout win at Bemidji State University (6-14-5, 5-10-4 WCHA) on Friday, Feb. 1 in Bemidji, Minn.
The victory helped the Huskies maintain a first place standing in the WCHA with 27 points. SCSU and BSU will complete their two-game set on Feb. 2 with a 7:07 p.m. game at the Sanford Center in Bemidji.
SCSU notched three first period goal to ice the contest early on Feb. 1. Nic Dowd posted the game-winner at 9:35 of the first period. His mid-ice steal and subsequent drive to the net resulted in an unassisted goal for the Huskies. This was Dowd's 12th goal of the season for the Huskies.
Brooks Bertsch padded the SCSU lead to 2-0 with a goal at 11:08 of the first. Joe Rehkamp and Ethan Prow both notched assists on the play, which was Bertsch's second goal of the season.
Senior Ben Hanowski added his 12th marker of the season at 11:57 of the third period as assists were coined by Nick Jensen and Drew LeBlanc. This was Jensen's 17th assist of the year and it was LeBlanc's nation-leading 29th helper of the year.
In the second period and for most of the third, the game turned into a tense defense battle as BSU otushot the Huskies 20-15 in the final two periods. SCSU goalie Ryan Faragher held firm in the nets with 24 saves and his third shutout of the 2012-13 campaign. The game also marked Faragher's 15th win of the year.
The night was capped with an empty net goal by Jonny Brodzinski at 17:31 of the third period. The unassisted goal was Brodzinski's 12th goal of the season and it was his 12th consecutive game with a point for the Huskies.
On the night, SCSU outshot the Beavers 29-24 and SCSU was 0-4 on the power play. The Huskies had no penalties in the game.
