SCSU Men's Hockey Falls to Wisconsin, 3-2

Madison, Wis. – The #8 St. Cloud State University Huskies men's hockey team went head-to-head against the #14 Wisconsin Badgers Saturday for game two of the final WCHA regular season series. The Huskies fell in a battle to Wisconsin 3-2.
Excitement started as soon as the puck dropped as Wisconsin took a 1-0 lead just 43 seconds into the game. Junior Frankie Simonelli scored the Badger goal.
The Huskies came back just 24 seconds later as Andrew Prochno fired a shot off from the near faceoff circle to tie the game up 1-1. Assists were charted to Brooks Bertsch and Cory Thorson on the goal. This was Prochno's fourth goal of the season.
Shots on goal were even at seven after the first period of play in Madison.
In the second period there was no scoring action on the ice to end the period with the Huskies trailing the Badgers 2-1.
Late in the third period Wisconsin took a 3-1 lead at the 18:47 mark with a goal by Michael Mersch, his second of the game.
The Huskies were not done yet as they pulled their goalie and skated with an extra guy, Prochno got his second goal of the game closing the gap 3-2. Nick Jensen assisted on the goal, which was his 24th of the season.
Ryan Faragher earned the starting spot again for the Huskies recording 28 saves to move his record to 20-12-1 on the season, while Wisconsin's Joel Rumpel posted 18 saves for the win.
The Huskies clinched their share of the MacNaughton Cup with their win Friday night in Madison.
St. Cloud State will return to action on March 15-17 as they play host to Alaska-Anchorage in the comforts of the National Hockey & Event Center. Game times are slated for 7:37 p.m. Friday and 7:07 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
