Men's basketball ends losing streak with solid 98-74 win at Minnesota Duluth

Duluth, Minn. – St. Cloud State men's basketball ended a three-game losing streak and will take a 6-5 record into the holiday break following a solid 98-74 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) win at the University of Minnesota Duluth Saturday afternoon in Duluth.
The Huskies improved to 6-5 overall and 3-3 in the NSIC. The Bulldogs dropped to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the league standings.
St. Cloud State led from start to finish and shot an impressive 57.4 percent from the field, 48 percent from three-point range and 84.2 percent at the free throw line. The Huskies led 46-38 at the half.
Five Huskies scored in double figures led by sophomore guard Scottie Stone (Melrose, Minn.) with a season and career high 21 points. He made seven of 11 field goal attempts, five of nine from beyond the arc and two free throw attempts.
St. Cloud State will break from the NSIC and host Iowa Wesleyan in a non-conference game on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 8 p.m.
Huskies Tip-Ins

Huskies Tip-Ins
- Junior forward Donnell Cegers (Milwaukee, Wis.) came off the bench and made eight of nine field goal attempts and four free throws for a career high 20 points.
- Senior forward Connor Niehaus (Fremont, Neb.) had a career high 18 points, making six of eight field goals, all from three-point range. He also had six rebounds and five assists.
- Senior center James Fort (South Haven, Minn.) continued to shoot the ball well making five of six field goal attempts and finishing with 12 points, four rebounds and three blocks.
- Junior guard Jordan Poydras (Los Angeles, Calif.) added 11 points and four assists.
- Junior guard Eddie Alcantara (New York, N.Y.) had a game and career high eight rebounds. He also scored six points and had two steals.
- The Huskies bench accounted for 43 points in the game. With the win, the Huskies sweep the season series, having won 69-66 on Nov. 29 in the NSIC opener for both teams.
- The Bulldogs shot 40 percent from the field and made 19 of 24 free throw attempts in the game.
- Brett Ervin had a game high 27 points and pulled down six rebounds.
- Pierre Newton had 15 points and four rebounds while Reece Zoelle had 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
- UMD was slightly out-rebounded by the Huskies, 33-32.
