Men's basketball to open 2015 on the road to Mankato and St. Paul

St. Cloud, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State men's basketball team will hit the road in the new year with a pair of NSIC tilts at #16 Minnesota State University, Mankato on Friday, Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. and Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 6 p.m.
The Huskies will take a 7-5 overall record and a 3-3 conference mark into the game. The Mavericks enter Friday's match-up with a 9-2 overall record and 4-1 NSIC mark. Concordia-St. Paul enters the weekend with a 6-5 overall mark and 2-3 NSIC record.
The Huskies versus Mavericks is one of the oldest rivalries in the St. Cloud State record book, dating to the 1923-24 season. The Huskies lead the all-time series 95-80 but have lost the last two meetings. Last season MSU defeated the Huskies 97-77 in Mankato. During the 2013-14 season MSU downed the Huskies 81-75 in St. Cloud. The Huskies are 6-5 against MSU dating back to the 2008-09 season.
St. Cloud State versus the Golden Bears is a young rivalry that dates to the 1999-2000 season. Since then the Huskies are 17-5 and have won three straight against Concordia-St. Paul. Last season the Huskies posted a 70-66 win in St. Paul. The last SCSU loss to the Golden Bears was late in the 2011-12 season, 93-89 in St. Cloud.
