
Men's Golf to play for 2014 NSIC title

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State men's golf team is set to defend it's 2013 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) title when the Huskies hit the links this Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13 for the 2014 championship.
The 2014 tournament will be played at Tiburon Golf Club in Omaha. The ten-team field will tee off starting at 10:30 and 11 a.m. on Saturday. Sunday tee times will be at 10 and 10:30 a.m.
St. Cloud State, ranked tenth in the NCAA Central Region poll released on April 4, is the leader in the chase for the 2014 NSIC title. The first 36 holes of the tournament were played last fall and St. Cloud State has a team score of 296-303-599 and hold a 15-stroke lead over Minnesota State University.
Individually, St. Cloud State's Tyler Koivisto and Minnesota State's Ross Miller are tied for first on the leaderboard with two-over-par totals 146. Koivisto shot rounds of 73-73.
Devin Holmes and Charlie West are in the top six on the individual leaderboard. Holmes is tied for third after rounds of 74-76 and West is tied for fifth with scores of 76-75.
St. Cloud State's line-up for this weekend will be Holmes, West, Koivisto, Matt Bible and Chase Hahne.
Last spring the Huskies captured their first NSIC men's golf title since re-joining the league in 2008. Prior to 2013 the Huskies won a Northern Intercollegiate Conference (NIC) title in 1975. St. Cloud State was the team runner-up in 2012 and 2009 and finished third in 2010 and 2011 in the NSIC championship.
