Men's golf wins for second straight week, women place fourth

Columbus, Neb. – For the second straight week the St. Cloud State men's golf team has come out on top in tournament competition. This weekend the Huskies won the nine-team Upper Iowa University Invitational played at Quail Run Golf Club in Columbus, Neb. Last weekend the Huskies topped the leaderboard at the Quarry Oaks Collegiate.
Of note, the St. Cloud State women also competed in the Upper Iowa University Invitational and finished fourth overall in the nine-team field. The final results will not be available until Monday.

St. Cloud State posted a second round team score of 293, ten strokes less than Saturday's first round of 303 and finished at 596. The Huskies were six strokes in front of second place Concordia-St. Paul.
Devin Holmes and Charlie West finished in the top five on the par 72 layout. Holmes finished third on the individual leaderboard with a two-day total two-over-par 146. He shot a one-under-par 71 in the final round to go with a first round 75. West finished the tournament at three-over-par following rounds of 71-76-147 to finish in fourth place.
Finishing in the top ten was Tyler Koivisto. Koivisto tied for eighth, carding a 78-72-150, finishing at six-over-par. Matt Bible finished in 15th place after rounds of 79-74-153 and Drew Massey shot 84-77-161 and tied for 41st place.
Chase Hahne, playing as an individual, also had a top ten finish as he tied for sixth place with rounds of 79-70-149.
Next up for the Huskies are the final two rounds of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championships to be played April 12-13 at a site to be announced. The Huskies are the team leader through the first two rounds, holding a 15-stroke lead over second place Minnesota State University.
