St. Cloud State's Austin Goergen named Division II Wrestler of the Week

Goergen, a redshirt junior heavyweight from Caledonia, Minn., was the Super Region III and NSIC Wrestler of the Week.
He won top honors in the 285-pound bracket at the Iowa State University Harold Nichols Cyclone Open on Sunday, Nov. 15. Goergen recorded a perfect 5-0 record in action at 285 pounds to open the season, which include five pins in his matches at the Cyclone Open.
Goergen capped the tournament with a 5:06 pin against Iowa State's Quean Smith in the championship match. He opened the tournament with a 5:19 pin against Dalonte Holland of Ellsworth and then gained a 2:38 fall against Iowa State's Tyler Swope in second round action. In the quarterfinals, Goergen posted a 2:19 pin against UN-Kearney's Luke Petersen and earned a trip to the finals with a 1:20 pin against Jon Scanlan of Iowa State in the semi's.
A two-time All-American, Goergen placed second in the nation at 285-pounds at the 2015 NCAA championships. He now has 39 falls during his career at SCSU.
St. Cloud State is currently ranked #2 in the NCAA DIvision II national poll and is the defending NCAA Division II national champion and the four-time Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference champion.
The Huskies will continue their 2015-16 season with a trip to the Finn Grinaker Open in Moorhead, Minn. on Nov. 21.
