St. Cloud State Men's Hockey sweeps at Colorado College

The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team gained a weekend sweep at Colorado College thanks to a 6-1 victory on Jan. 31 at the World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The victory moved SCSU's record to 12-13-1, 7-8-1 NCHC, while CC dropped to 5-18-1, 1-13-1 NCHC. On the weekend at CC, the Huskies outscored the Tigers 13-2 and SCSU has posted 22 goals in its last four games played.
In the match on Jan. 31, CC opened the attack with a goal by Sam Rothstein at 3:52 of the first period, which included assists from Charlie Taft and Peter Stoykewich.
The Huskies evened the score at 7:30 of the first period with an even strength goal by David Morley. Blake Winiecki and Joe Rehkamp each had assists on the play that was Morley's eighth goal of the 2014-15 season.
SCSU's Jonny Brodzinski posted the game winner at 9:05 of the second period with a power play goal that was assisted by Joey Benik and Ethan Prow. The goal was Brodzinski's 100th career point as a Husky and it was also his nation leading 10th power play marker of the season. Brodzinski became the 26th SCSU player at the Division I level to score 100 career points.
In the third period, Brodzinski stretched the Huskies' lead to 3-1 with his 17th goal of the season at :43 as Winiecki and Rehkamp each had assists on the play. Daniel Tedesco pushed the score to 4-1 with his second goal of the year at 1:46 of the third as Mika Ilvonen and Kalle Kossila each marked assists on the play.
The goals continued to roll in at 7:37 with a power play tally by Patrick Russell, which was assisted by Brodzinski and Prow. The night's scoring was completed at 14:03 of the third period with Morley's second goal of the night. Russell and Prow each added assists on the play for the Huskies. Prow finished the weekend at CC with a total of six assists.
On the evening, SCSU outshot the Tigers 42-24 and the Huskies were 2-of-4 on the power play in the contest. The Huskies did not draw any penalties in the contest and CC was 0-of-0 on the power play in the game. Charlie Lindgren added his 11th win of the season in the game with 23 saves to his credit. Tyler Marble was the goalie of record for CC with 36 saves in the game.
SCSU will enjoy a bye week next weekend before returning to it NCHC schedule with games at Minnesota Duluth on Feb. 13-14. Fans can listen to both of these games on KCML FM 99.9 (www.lite999.com).
