St. Cloud State Men's Hockey headed to Minnesota Duluth on Feb. 13-14

The St. Cloud State University Huskies men's hockey team (12-13-1, 7-8-1-0 NCHC) will continue its 2014-15 season with a pair of conference games against the #6 University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs (17-10-1, 9-6-1 NCHC) on Feb. 13-14. The games will be played at the AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, Minn. The action will get underway on Feb. 13 at 7:07 p.m. (CT), while the pucks drops on Feb. 14 at 7:07 p.m. (CT) Fans can listen to these games on KCML FM 99.9 (www.lite999.com)...fans can watch the game on Feb. 13 on the CBS Sports Network. CBSSN is available on DirecTV on channel 221 or Dish Network on channel 158. In the St. Cloud area, CBSNN is available on Charter Cable channel 412...the game on Feb. 14 will be televised live on KBJR TV in the Duluth area...fans can watch the live video stream of this game on NCHC.tv/scsu

CC SWEEP: Prior to the bye on Feb. 6-7, the Huskies last time on ice resulted in a 7-1 and 6-1 sweep at Colorado College. SCSU's Jonny Brodzinski gained NCHC Player of the Week honors after charting 4g/2a on the weekend, while Ethan Prow was named the NCHC Def. Player of the Week by virtue of his six assist weekend at CC. The Huskies made it an awards sweep as Charlie Lindgren was named the NCHC Goalie of the Week with 44 saves in the two wins and Patrick Russell was named the NCHC Rookie of the Week after charting 2g/1a on the weekend. Of note, SCSU scored an impressive six power play goals in the two game set at CC.

ADVANTAGE SCSU: On the power play, SCSU currently ranks fifth in the nation with a 23.6 percent power play rate (26-of-110). SCSU also ranks among the top 10 least penalized teams in DI hockey this winter with an average of 9.7 penalty minutes per game (252 penalty minutes in 26 games played).
ON FIRE: Goalie Charlie Lindgren is 3-1-0 in his last four starts for the Huskies. He has allowed only five goals in those four games. On the season, Lindgren owns a 2.40 GAA and a .914 save rate. Of note, SCSU has outscored its opponents 22-5 in its last four outings.
HOME ICE: Forward Judd Peterson, a Buffalo draft pick, will enjoy a homecoming during the Huskies' trip to UMD. Peterson is a resident of Duluth and a grad of Duluth-Marshall H.S. He played junior hockey with the Cedar Rapids USHL squad before joining the Huskies in 2014-15.
NOTEWORTHY NOTES: Forward David Morley now has 70 career points, which includes 29 goals and 41 assists during his time as a Husky...forward Kalle Kossila is making his move toward the 100-point club this season. Kossila has posted 93 points (32g/61a) in 104 games played at SCSU...defender Ethan Prow chalked up his 50th career point with his six-assist weekend at Colorado College. In three years on the SCSU blueline, Prow has nine goals and 41 assists.
SERIES NOTES: The Huskies own a 60-42-8 all-time record against Minnesota Duluth, which dates back to the series opener against the Bulldogs with an 8-1 win in 1946-47. SCSU is 3-2-0 in the last five outings against the Bulldogs, which includes a 5-3 and 4-3 sweep at the HBNHC and a 4-2 and 5-1 sweep at the Amsoil Arena last year. Earlier this season, UMD posted a 3-2 OT, 3-1 sweep at the HBNHC on Nov. 7-8, 2014...the last time the Huskies lost a game at UMD was a 2-1 setback on Nov. 23, 2012. SCSU is 6-3-1 in the last 10 games against UMD. SCSU is 3-2-1 in games played against UMD at the AMSOIL Arena.
