St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud State men's basketball prevailed in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) North win over visiting Minot State, 93-85 Friday night at Halenbeck Hall.

The win improves the Huskies record to 17-10 overall and 13-8 in the NSIC. Minot State dropped to 14-13 overall and 9-12 in the NSIC. The Huskies will take on the University of Mary Saturday at 6 p.m. U-Mary lost at Minnesota Duluth, 63-60 on Friday.

The Huskies opened up a 14 point lead 13 minutes into the first half and led Minot, 47-33 at the half. A 9-1 run to start the second half put the Huskies up 56-34 at the 17:19 mark.

Minot State wouldn't back down and eight minutes later, a Michael Pelo three cut the Huskies lead to 64-62. St. Cloud State went on a 13-5 run to open up a ten point lead and held the Beavers at Bay for the win.

Huskies junior guard Jordan Poydras (Los Angeles, Calif.) led all players with 30 points and made four three-point baskets. It marked the fourth time this season that Poydras has scored 30 or more points in a game and the second time in the last four games.

Minot State had five players score in double figures and Everett Robinson posted a double double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Huskies Tip-ins
Sophomore guard Scottie Stone (Melrose, Minn.) dropped in 22 points and made five three-point baskets.
Senior forward Connor Niehaus (Fremont, Neb.) handed out a seven assists to equal his career high. He has dished out 20 assists over the last four games. Niehaus scored five points and had six rebounds.
Junior guard Eddie Alcantara (New York) had 15 points and eight rebounds, including seven defensive boards.
Junior forward Donnell Cegers (Milwaukee, Wis.) finished the game with ten points.
The Huskies shot 55 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range.
St. Cloud State is assured of a first round NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament home game to be played on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
Saturday is Senior Day at Halenbeck Hall and four Huskies will be honored immediately following the conclusion of the women's game. Derrick Boone (Minneapolis, Minn.), James Fort (South Haven, Minn.), Kevin Levandoski (Appleton, Wis.) and Niehaus will be recognized.

Minot State Notes
Tyler Rudolph led the Beavers with 22 points and made ten of 16 field goals.
Michael Pelo had 13 points and six rebounds.
Thomas Korf of St. Cloud had 11 points and four assists in the game.
The Beavers shot 46.9 percent from the field and out rebounded the Huskies 38-31.
