#2 St. Cloud State to compete at 2016 NWCA DII National Duals on Jan. 8-9

The #2 St. Cloud State University wrestling team (2-0, 0-0 NSIC) will be on the road this weekend to compete in the 2016 NWCA Division II National Duals on Friday, Jan. 8 and Saturday, Jan. 9. Â The tournament will featured many of the nation's top ranked NCAA Division II programs and it will take place at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.
In first round action at the tournament, the Huskies will square off against #18 Newberry at 11 a.m. on Jan. 8. Â In other first round bouts on Jan. 8, #1 Maryville will meet #12 Findlay (9 a.m.), #14 Wheeling Jesuit will meet #11 Upper Iowa, #5 Notre Dame (Ohio) will wrestle NSIC rival Minnesota State Mankato and #16 Indianapolis will meet up with #4 Mercyhurst. Â
The other 11 a.m. bouts at the duals include #3 Nebraska Kearney vs. #12 Tiffin, McKendree vs. #7 Pitt-Johnstown and #9 Lake Erie vs. Central Missouri.

Clint Poster was named the D2wrestle.com DII Super 3 Region Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 5. Â He gained the honor on the strength of his first place finish in the 165-pound bracket at the Viking-Warrior Open on Jan. 2 in Fremont, Neb.
Clint PosterPoster was also selected as the NSIC Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 4. Â Poster is one of SCSU's team captains for the 2015-16 season.
The Huskies received a #2 ranking in the latest Division II Wrestling Coaches' Association poll, which was released on Jan. 1.
SCSU had three wrestlers ranked number one in the most recent DII national rankings. The list includes senior Tim Prescott at 125, senior Clint Poster at 165 and junior Austin Goergen at 285.
In the most recent regional rankings, SCSU was ranked #2 in the Super Region 3 team poll. Â Individually, SCSU's Prescott (125), Poster (165) and Goergen (285) all ranked number one in the region, while Jay Hildreth (149), Clayton Jennissen (174) and V.J. Giulio (197) all earned third place rankings in the region poll. Â Uthman Rabiu (184) and Larry Bomstad (157) both gained number four rankings in the regional poll, while Jarred Oftedahl (133) was ranked fifth in the poll.
In action at the Viking-Warrior Open on Jan. 2 in Fremont, Neb., SCSU wrestlers Clint Poster (165), Vince Dietz (174), V.J. Giulio (197) and Austin Goergen (285) all brought home tournament bracket championships.
Clint Poster is 18-0 this season with 10 pins to his credit.
Austin Goergen continues to impress this winter with a 15-0 record at 285-pounds. Â He added three falls at the Viking-Warrior Open and has 12 pins to his credit this winter. Â He has won only one match by decision this season with 14 of his wins coming by a pin or injury default.
At 197-pounds, V.J. Giulio has improved to 11-1 on the season with five pins in 2015-16.
The Huskies will travel to the NWCA Division II National Duals on Jan. 8-9 in Fort Wayne, Ind. Â The Huskies placed third at the National Duals in 2015 and won the NWCA National Duals tournament in 2012 and 2013. Â SCSU has finished no lower than third place in this tournament since 2011.
