
St. Cloud State baseball ranked #1 in first NCAA Regional poll

The first edition of the NCAA regional baseball rankings have been released and St. Cloud State University tops the NCAA Division II Central Region poll while Minnesota Duluth ranks third, Augustana sixth and Minnesota State eighth in the first of three rankings.
St. Cloud State currently owns a 30-4 overall record and a 15-4 NSIC record. Â In play against teams from the Central Region, SCSU is 19-4 overall. Â The Huskies will play at Bemidji State on April 27, followed by a pair of home NSIC doubleheaders against Northern State on April 30 (1:30 p.m.) and May 1 (2 p.m.) at Joe Faber Field.
The NCAA Central Region is made up of 41 teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (15), the Mid-America Athletic Association (MIAA) (14) and the Great American Conference (GAC) (12). Automatic bids are awarded to the tournament champions from each conference with the final five spots awarded on an at-large basis. In all, eight teams will advance to the NCAA Central Region Tournament played on May 19-23 at a site to be determined.
The NCAA Division II Baseball Championships will take place May 28 to June 4 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.
The NCAA Division II Baseball Selection show will air via webcast at NCAA.com on Sunday, May 15 at 9 p.m. central time.
