Six former St. Cloud State University baseball player have made it to the major leagues.
Nick Anderson A standout pitcher for SCSU from 2009 to 2011, Anderson is currently playing pro baseball in the major leagues for the Tampa Bay Rays. After he left SCSU, Anderson played one season of baseball at Mayville State before embarking on his pro career with stops at Rockford (Frontier League), Cedar Rapids (Minnesota Class A), Fort Myers (Minnesota Class A), Chattanoga (Minnesota Class AA) and Rochester (Minnesota Class AAA). He was traded to Miami before the start of the 2019 season and made his major league debut with the Marlins in 2019, before being traded to Tampa in midseason 2019. Nick Anderson MLB Biography
Jim Eisenreich Jim Eisenreich played for Minnesota, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Florida and Los Angeles. In 1996, Eisenreich batted .361 for the Phillies - the highest Philadelphia batting average since Smoky Burgess hit .368 in 1954. He also reached the 1,000 major league hit plateau in 1996. He was drafted by the Twins in the 16th round of the 1980 June free agent draft. He voluntarily retired in June of 1984, due to tourette syndrome, after spending parts of three seasons with the Twins. He made his comeback with the Royals in 1987 and spent four full seasons with Kansas City (1989-92) before signing with Philadelphia as a free agent prior to the 1993 season.
