Fifth-seeded Huskies fall to eighth-seeded Augustana, 4-0
JOPLIN, Mo. – No. 20 St. Cloud State Softball (46-15, 26-4 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) dropped its second game at the NCAA Central Region Tournament to No. 8-seed Augustana (31-27, 19-11 NSIC) on Friday at Pat Lipira Softball Complex in Joplin, Mo. The fifth-seeded Huskies fell 4-0 to the Vikings.
After the Huskies went down 1-2-3 in the top of the first inning, Augustana's first four hitters reached base on the first five pitches to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Senior Macey Clark (Winneconne, Wis.) came on in relief and limited the damage to just three runs while leaving the bases loaded. Clark ended up pitching 5.2 innings and only allowed one run in the fourth inning to keep Augustana at bay.
The Huskies' offense only had three hits all game and never got a runner past second.
