ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Softball Head Coach Mitch Roberts announced his resignation to accept a coaching position at a different institution. Roberts led the Huskies to a pair of 40-win seasons and helped deliver the program's first-ever share of a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) regular season championship in 2026.
A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
"Coach Roberts has had a tremendous impact on our program and our student-athletes," said Director of Athletics Holly Schreiner. "We are grateful for his dedication and leadership, and we wish him continued success in his new opportunity."
"St. Cloud State will always hold a special place in the hearts of my family and me," said Roberts. "Throughout my time here, I have been incredibly fortunate to work alongside so many talented, dedicated, and passionate individuals who have helped shape this program and made the experience meaningful. The relationships we've built and the successes we've celebrated together are memories that will stay with us for a lifetime. It has been an honor and privilege to lead this program, and I am grateful for the trust, support, and commitment of everyone who has been a part of this journey. St. Cloud State will always be a place that we cherish and look back on with great pride and appreciation."
