Huskies earn pair of run-rule wins, win fourth regular season championship in program history
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – (RV) St. Cloud State Softball (44-12, 26-4 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) swept Bemidji State (10-43, 4-26 NSIC) to earn a share of its first-ever NSIC Regular Season Championship on Sunday afternoon at Husky Stadium. The Huskies became co-regular season champions with No. 21 Winona State (47-8, 26-4 NSIC) after finishing with the same conference record as the Warriors. SCSU picked up a pair of 9-1 run-rule wins, each coming in six innings.
It was the fourth overall regular season conference championship for the Huskies after the 1998, 2003 and 2004 teams all won the North Central Conference (NCC). SCSU extended its win streak to 11, series sweep streak to five and home run streak to 10 games. The Huskies swept 11 of their 15 conference doubleheaders.
In between games, the program honored its three seniors for their contributions to the program – pitchers Macey Clark (Winneconne, Wis.) and Justyce Porter (Kent, Wash.) and infielder Sydney Roe (Davenport, Iowa).
