Harms Hits Pair of Home Runs, St. Cloud State Softball Tallies Another Series Sweep

Harms ties single game home run record in game two, Huskies outscore Minnesota Crookston 21-2
CROOKSTON, Minn. – St. Cloud State Softball (38-12, 20-4 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) outscored Minnesota Crookston (14-35, 8-16 NSIC) 21-2 in its doubleheader sweep on Saturday at the Minnesota Crookston Softball Field in Crookston. The Huskies won game one 5-1 before taking game two 16-1 in five innings. Junior outfielder Hannah Harms (Bartlett, Ill.) tied the school record for home runs in game with two in game two of the twinbill. The series sweep was the Huskies eighth of NSIC play and second in a row.
GAME ONE: ST. CLOUD STATE 5, MINNESOTA CROOKSTON 1
The Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the first when redshirt sophomore utility Kaylee Collins (Lakeville, Minn.) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and pushed its lead to 4-0 in the next inning when junior catcher/infielder Bethany Weiss (Forest Lake, Minn.) hit a three-run home run. SCSU then took a 5-0 lead in the top of the seventh after senior designated player Sydney Roe (Davenport, Iowa) hit an RBI single and UMC got on the board in the last half inning to make the final 5-1.
Freshman pitcher Alyssa Kunz (Lyons, Ill.) was excellent in the circle, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out seven and walking three.

SCSU wasted no time jumping out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning after a pair of RBI singles from Roe and Collins before Harms hit her first career grand slam. The Huskies added one run in the second and six more on six hits in the fourth to make the score 13-0. Weiss recorded an RBI-double, Roe hit a two-RBI single, sophomore infielder Grace Dahmen (Jordan, Minn.) hit an RBI-single and Harms hit her second home run of the game, a two-run blast. Minnesota Crookston got on the board with a solo homer in the fourth before the Huskies scored three more in the top of the fifth to make it 16-1.

- Weiss posted her 18th multi-hit game of the season, 12th multi-RBI game and fifth game with 3+ RBIs which all lead the Huskies this season. She hit her sixth home run which is tied for the most on the team and her new single season high. Weiss also leads the team in RBIs (44) by six.
- Frechette extended her on-base streak to a season-best 16 games.
- Junior infielder Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn.) drew a walk to extend her on-base streak to eight games.
- Harms had her team-best 17 game on-base streak snapped.

- Roe tallied multiple hits for the 11th time this season and multiple RBIs for the seventh time (fourth with 4+ which leads the team).
- Holmes notched multiple hits for the 14th time this season and extended her on-base streak to nine games. She has scored 46 runs this season which is the most on the team by 13.
- Frechette posted her 13th multi-hit game of the season. She improved her on-base streak to a season-best 17 games which is tied with Harms for the longest by a Husky this season. Frechette also hit her 13th double of the season which is third most on the team.
- Weiss tallied her 19th multi-hit game of the season and 16th double, both which leads the team this season. She extended her hitting and on-base streaks to five games.
- Dahmen tallied her second multi-RBI game of the season.
- Clark picked up her team leading 17th win of the season.
