(RV) St. Cloud State Softball Extends Win Streak to Nine, Breaks Record for NSIC Wins in a Season

Huskies sweep Minnesota Duluth, record 23rd and 24th conference wins
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – (RV) St. Cloud State Softball (42-12, 24-4 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) swept Minnesota Duluth (29-22, 14-14 NSIC) on Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium to extend its win streak to nine and series sweep streak to four. The Huskies took down UMD 9-3 in game one and 10-3 in game two.
With the sweep, SCSU broke the program record for Northern Sun wins in a season, with 24, surpassing the previous record of 23 set by the 2022 team. The Huskies have swept 10 NSIC doubleheaders this season and extended their home run streak to eight games.
GAME ONE: ST. CLOUD STATE 9, MINNESOTA DULUTH 3
Minnesota Duluth took a 1-0 lead in the second after hitting a solo home run before SCSU evened the game in the third inning with an RBI-single from junior catcher/infielder Bethany Weiss (Forest Lake, Minn.). The Huskies took a 6-1 lead in the next inning after scoring five runs on six hits. Junior outfielder Kurstyn Patnode (Becker, Minn.) hit an RBI-double and SCSU got RBI-singles from junior infielder Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn.), Weiss, sophomore catcher/infielder Morgan Honeycutt (Rosemount, Minn.) and sophomore infielder Grace Dahmen (Jordan, Minn.).
The Bulldogs got one run back in each of the next two innings, cutting their deficit to three before SCSU pushed its lead to a game-high six runs after a three-run home run from redshirt sophomore utility Kaylee Collins (Lakeville, Minn.). The Huskies didn't allow a run in the final half inning, holding on for a 9-3 win.

The Huskies fell behind 1-0 in the first inning again but took their first lead of the game in the second inning after an RBI-double from Collins and an RBI-single from Holmes. SCSU added four runs in the fourth to extend its lead to five including three on a fielder's choice throwing error that cleared the bases and another on an RBI-single from senior infielder Sydney Roe (Davenport, Iowa). The Bulldogs hit a two-run shot in the fifth to cut their deficit to three, but SCSU added four insurance runs in the sixth with an RBI-double from Weiss and a three-run home run for Roe. The Huskies went on to win 10-3.

The Huskies wrap up their 56-game regular season schedule on Sunday against Bemidji State (10-41, 4-24 NSIC) at noon and 2 p.m. at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud. It will be Senior Day for the program and the team's three seniors and BSU's five seniors will be honored in between games. - Holmes extended her on-base streak to a season-high 12 games.

- Clark won her career-best 19th game and posted her 16th complete game.
- Palmer recorded her fourth double of the season.
- Collins posted her eighth double of the season. She is on an eight game on-base streak and a five game hitting streak which are both season best marks.
