St. Cloud State Track & Field Finishes Outscores Points Projection at NSIC Outdoor Championships

Martinez-Rodriguez (high jump), Woelfel (pole vault) and 4x400 relay score points for Huskies at conference meet in Duluth Friday and Saturday
DULUTH, Minn. – St. Cloud State Track & Field outscored its points projection at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Outdoor Championships hosted by Minnesota Duluth at Malosky Stadium on Friday and Saturday. The Huskies scored eight points, doubling its points projection to finish 13th at the meet. In total, SCSU posted five personal bests and three scoring finishes (top eight) at the meet.
Graduate jumper Elena Martinez-Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain), sophomore Lauren Woelfel (Becker, Minn.) and the 4x400 relay team of junior sprinter Jenna Marxhausen (Two Harbors, Minn.), freshman sprinter Efe Ottah (Wednesbury, England), freshman mid-distance runner Jillian Kneisler (Muskego, Wis.) and sophomore sprinter Emma Hoppman (Red Wing, Minn.) scored the Huskies points.
Martinez-Rodriguez cleared a new outdoor personal best height of 1.64m/5-4.5 to finish sixth in the high jump, scoring three points. Woelfel cleared a new personal best height in the pole vault (3.66m/12-0), also finishing sixth for three points. The 4x4 team finished seventh after running 3:58.98, scoring two points.
Freshman distance runner Jocie Wheeler (Annandale, Minn.) clocked a new personal best in the 10,000 meters (43:59.98), Hoppman ran a new personal record in the 400 hurdles (1:08.93) and sophomore distance runner Abbygail Nunez (South St. Paul, Minn.) ran a new career best in the 3,000 steeplechase (12:26.13).
