Woelfel Wins Pole Vault for St. Cloud State Track & Field at Weather Shortened Norse Invitational

Huskies record seven top five finishes, one event win as only 10 of 19 events were able to be completed due to weather
DECORAH, Iowa – Despite having its second outdoor meet of the season cut short due to weather, St. Cloud State Track & Field posted seven top five finishes including one event win, three personal bests and one season best. The Norse Invitational, hosted by Luther at Carlson Stadium in Decorah, Iowa was canceled after just 10 of 19 scheduled events were able to be completed due to storms in the area. The Huskies finished tied for 3rd of 7 teams with 47 points.
Sophomore pole vaulter Lauren Woelfel (Becker, Minn.) took the crown in the pole vault, which was contested indoors, after clearing 3.50m/11-5.75. She won the event by 0.30 meters/nearly a foot in her first competition since the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Indoor Championships in late February.
Senior sprinter/jumper Ava Wilmanns (Cedarburg, Wis.) recorded a new personal best in the javelin throw by 5.05m/16-6 (29.45m/96-7), freshman distance runner Jocie Wheeler (Annandale, Minn.) raced to a 27 second personal record in the 3,000 steeplechase (12:58.40) and freshman thrower Shanya Collier-Phillips posted a new career best in the shot put by 0.56m/1-10 (9.13m/29-11.5).
The quartet of junior sprinter/jumper Myesha Thompson (Mount Horeb, Wis.), freshman sprinter Efe Ottah (Wednesbury, England), sophomore sprinter/jumper Zaria Stapleton (Nassau Bahamas) and freshman sprinter Aliyah Horton (St. Paul, Minn.) ran a new season best in the 4x100 relay (50.01).
