St. Cloud State Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season with 10 Personal Bests at ESU Spring Open

Huskies post eight top 10 finishes in 2026 outdoor debut
EMPORIA, Kan. – St. Cloud State Track & Field opened its 2026 outdoor season with 10 personal bests at the ESU Spring Open hosted by Emporia State on Friday. The Huskies also recorded eight top 10 finishes and three season bests at Francis G. Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kansas.
Graduate jumper Elena Martinez-Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain) continued her success in the high jump, posting a new outdoor personal best in the event after clearing 1.59m/5-2.5 to finish third. Also in the field, sophomore thrower Kim Feller (East Helena, Mont.) and junior thrower Savannah Reinke (Malta Bend, Mo.) recorded personal bests in the hammer throw with marks of 48.82m/160-2 and 37.74m/123-10 respectively and sophomore thrower Mackenzie McMahon (Baraboo, Wis.) recorded a season best in the shot put (11.63m/38-2).
On the track, a trio of Huskies PR'ed in the 100 meters – junior sprinter/jumper Myesha Thompson (Mount Horeb, Wis.) who ran 12.65, sophomore sprinter/jumper Zaria Stapleton (Nassau Bahamas), who ran 12.66 and senior sprinter/jumper Ava Wilmanns (Cedarburg, Wis.) who ran 13.34. Stapleton also set a new season best in the 200 (27.05).
Freshman sprinter Efe Ottah (Wednesbury, England) ran a new personal best in the 400, becoming the first Husky to break the 60-second barrier this season, finishing the lap in 59.21. She also set a personal record in the 200 meters (25.88). Junior sprinter Jenna Marxhausen (Two Harbors, Minn.) set a new outdoor personal best in the 400 (1:00.90) and a season best in the 200 (26.04). Freshman distance runner Jocie Wheeler (Annandale, Minn.) raced to a new personal record in the 800 meters, finishing the half mile in 2:41.98.
