Mohwinkle, Thompson and Woelfel Win Events for St. Cloud State Track & Field at Viking Classic, Relays Impress at Drake Relays

Mohwinkle (high jump), Thompson (long jump) and Woelfel (pole vault) win events, Huskies produce seven personal bests and three season bests across two meets
DES MOINES, Iowa – St. Cloud State Track & Field tallied three event wins, 11 top five finishes, seven personal bests and three season bests in its penultimate weekend of regular season competition at the Drake Relays at the Blue Oval at Drake Stadium in Des Moines and the Viking Classic (Grandview) at Duke Williams Stadium in Des Moines. No team scored were kept at either meet.
Drake Relays
The Huskies ran new season best times in both events at the Drake Relays. The quartet of junior sprinter/jumper Myesha Thompson (Mount Horeb, Wis.), freshman sprinters Efe Ottah (Wednesbury, England) and Aliyah Horton (St. Paul, Minn.) and sophomore sprinter/jumper Zaria Stapleton (Nassau Bahamas) ran 48.34 in the 4x100 relay which was the fastest time since 2021. Ottah, junior sprinter Jenna Marxhausen (Two Harbors, Minn.), sophomore sprinter Emma Hoppman (Red Wing, Minn.) and sophomore distance runner Abbygail Nunez (South St. Paul, Minn.) ran 3:57.79 in the 4x4 which was the fastest time since the 2017 outdoor season.
Viking Classic
Junior jumper/sprinter Kinsey Mohwinkle (Aplington, Iowa) cleared a career high mark (1.60m/5-3) to win the high jump, Thomspon recorded a new personal best (5.61m/18-5) to win the long jump and sophomore Lauren Woelfel (Becker, Minn.) won the pole vault after clearing 3.45m/11-3.75. Woelfel also ran a new personal best time in the 100 hurdles – 17.39.
On the track, Stapleton ran a new personal best in the 100 meters (12.50) and freshman distance runner Jocie Wheeler (Annandale, Minn.) ran a personal record in the 1,500 meters (5:27.11). In the field, Horton (5.22m/17-1.5) and senior jumper/sprinter Ava Wilmanns (Cedarburg, Wis.) (4.99m/16-4.5) each jumped to new personal bests in the long jump and sophomore thrower Kim Feller (East Helena, Mont.) posted a new season best in the javelin throw - 31.92/104-8.
