Long ball and strong pitching powers Huskies to 5-3 win in series finale
GAME 1 – MW 9, SCSU 8
SCSU jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a home run in the first inning from senior Wyatt Tweet (Russell, Manitoba), and a pair of runs in the second on a double from senior Nick Ibrahim (Woodbury, Minn.) and a sacrifice fly from sophomore Dylan Debilzen (Parkers Prairie, Minn.).
Missouri Western then took a 5-3 lead after scoring in four consecutive innings from the second to the fifth. The lead was short-lived, however, with the Huskies responding with a five-run sixth inning. Debilzen had the key hit in the inning with a bases-clearing, three-run triple.
In the bottom of the ninth, Missouri Western was able to load the bases and then hit three consecutive singles to score three runs and take the game, 9-8.

After a shaky first inning where the first two Grifs reach based via hit-by-pitch and scored a run, starter sophomore A.J. Price (Neenah, Wis.) settled in and pitched five strong innings with only allowing the one run on three hits and two walks.
Redshirt senior Eric Bello (Manati, Puerto Rico) and junior Wilmis Castro (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) hit home runs in the second and fifth innings, respectively, while redshirt senior Liam Moreno (Sun Prairie, Wis.) had an RBI sacrifice fly in the second inning and an RBI single in the sixth.
The Huskies bullpen pitched a strong final four innings with senior Kahler Key (Onalaska, Wis.) pitching 2.1 innings with six strikeouts while freshman Brayden Simones (Sartell, Minn.) struck out four over the final 1.2 innings to earn the save.
