A single by sophomore Dylan Debilzen (Parkers Prairie, Minn.) extended SCSU's lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
Wayne State then scored two runs in the top of the third on a home run from Brayden Chaney before SCSU responded with a solo home run from senior Wyatt Tweet (Russell, Manitoba) in the bottom of the third.
The Wildcats then took the lead in the top of the fifth when Chaney singled, scoring one run, and Max Heard homered to right field, scoring two runs, making the score 6-4. SCSU cut Wayne's lead to 8-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning on a pinch hit home run from freshman Ryan Cahoon (Northfield, Minn.), but that was as close as they would get.
