Huskies score season-high 11 runs on 13 hits, freshmen Cahoon and Robinson each record two RBI

JOPLIN, Mo. – St. Cloud State Baseball (3-3, 2-1 NSIC) beat Wayne State (5-5, 1-2 NSIC), 11-5, on Saturday at Warren Turner Field in Joplin, Mo. With the win, the Huskies took two-out-of-three in the conference portion of the series with one more non-conference game scheduled for tomorrow. Freshman Ryan Cahoon (Northfield, Minn.) and redshirt freshman Max Robinson (St. Michael, Minn.) each knocked in two runs for the Huskies, while sophomore AJ Price (Neenah, Wis.) and senior Eamonn Mulhern (Madison, Wis.) went the distance on the mound for the Huskies.

The Huskies opened the scoring in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles from redshirt junior Josh McGuin (Toronto, Ontario) and senior Nick Ibrahim (Woodbury, Minn.). Wayne State briefly took a 3-2 lead in the top of the third inning on a three-run home run, but SCSU responded with two more runs in the bottom of the third, partly thanks to redshirt senior Eric Bello (Manati, Puerto Rico) extending his hitting streak to six games with an RBI single.

SCSU extended its lead to 9-4 with a four-run sixth inning following a two-run double from Robinson, an RBI groundout from redshirt junior Hayden Frank (St. Michael, Minn.) and an RBI single from Cahoon. Senior Wyatt Tweet (Russell, Manitoba) added an insurance run with a solo home run in the eighth inning.

On the mound, Price recorded his second win in as many starts with a five-inning out where he allowed three runs on two hits and five walks with seven strikeouts. Mulhern came on in relief and pitched the final four innings of the game, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

SCSU scored a season-high 11 runs and matched a season-best with 13 hits.
Tweet had his third multi-hit game of the season while launching his team-leading third home run.
Cahoon had his second multi-hit game and first multi-RBI game of the season while extending his hitting streak to five games. On the season, Cahoon is hitting .667 (6-of-9) with a home run and four RBI.
Price matched his longest career outing at five innings while setting a new career-high with seven strikeouts.
Mulhern earned his second career save, with his last save coming with Milwaukee on April 15, 2025, against UIC.
Bello extended his hit streak to six, hitting safely in all six games this season.
Robinson had his first two career hits, first two career RBI and first career stolen base.
Sophomore Dylan Debilzen (Parkers Prairie, Minn.) extended his hitting streak to five games with an RBI single.
