Men’s Basketball Returns Home This Weekend To Host A Pair of NSIC Opponents

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Cloud State men's basketball team (14-9, 10-4 NSIC) returns home this weekend to Halenbeck Hall to host a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) opponents. The program starts the week by welcoming in Wayne State College (6-14, 4-10 NSIC) for an 8 p.m. game on Friday, Jan. 27. The team then sees the defending NCAA Division National Champion Augustana University Vikings (14-6, 9-5 NSIC) come to Halenbeck Hall for a 6 p.m. contest on Saturday, Jan. 28

Additionally, each of the two games will have a theme attached. The theme on Friday will be Toga Night - where all fans are encouraged to dress in togas. The game on Saturday is a WHITE OUT – where all fans are asked to wear white to support the Huskies. Also at halftime of the game, former SCSU women's basketball player and track athlete Heather Miller-Koch will be recognized on the court for having participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the heptathlon.

Scouting Wayne State College Wildcats
- The Wildcats are coached by Jeff Kaminsky, who is in his first year running the program and 30th season overall as a collegiate head coach.
- Wayne State went 1-1 last weekends on the road with an overtime 66-63 victory over Winona State (1/20) and a five-point loss to Upper Iowa, 77-72 (1/21).
- WSC has a better road record (4-6) and than home record (2-6) this season.
- The four wins on the road are more than the previous two seasons combined (1).
- Wayne State tops the league in forced turnovers (13.86) and ranks second in steal (135).
- The program has dropped four of the last five games.
- WSC has played three overtime contests this season (1-2 record).
- Kendall Jacks is the leading scorer for the program at 14.8 points per game.
- Matt Thomas is also averaging in double figures at 11.2 points a contest.
- Jordan Cornelius averages 9.4 points and a team-leading 5.4 rebounds per game.
- Vance Janssen leads the team in steals (33) plus assists (47) and also puts up 9.1 points per game.
Scouting Augustana University Vikings
- The Vikings are coached by Tom Billeter, who is in his 14th year running the program and 19th campaign as a collegiate head coach.
- Augustana won the NCAA Division II National Championship last season with a 90-81 victory over Lincoln Memorial.
- The Vikings have won four of the last six games including a split road weekend trip against Upper Iowa (L, 95-91) and Winona State (W, 73-71).
- Five of the team's six losses this season have come by five points or less.
- The program is second in the NSIC in offensive rebounding (11.2), three-point field goals per game (9.3), assists (16.7) and turnovers forced (13.85).
- The Vikings are the top team in the league in scoring margin (10.5).
- Augustana is a well-balanced team that features five players averaging better than nine points a game.
- Jordan Spencer leads the club with his average of 16.1 points per game and averages a conference-leading 7.6 assists per game.
- Spencer is also third in the league in steals (33).
- Mike Busack, a graduate transfer from Minnesota State, sport an average of 14.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

- St. Cloud State, even after going 1-2 last week, have won 11 of the last 15 games.
- The program has won seven straight (all conference games) at home and nine of the last 10 at Halenbeck Hall.
- The team's 14 wins this season are already more than the program had all of last season and the 10 wins in league play equal the amount for the program from a season ago.
- The team's current two-game losing streak is the first for the program since early November.
- The Huskies started a very busy last week with a 79-65 victory over Minnesota Duluth (1/17).
- Scottie Stone set the school's career three-point record with his 251st made triple on his way to 29 points against the Bulldogs.
