Kossila played in the Ducks' 4-0 loss at home against the Edmonton Oilers.  The game had a definite SCSU flavor as the Oilers' roster includes former Husky Matt Hendricks, who recently played in his 500th career game in the NHL.  Kossila registered one shot on goal in the game and had just under 7:00 minutes of ice time in the contest.  Prior to his move to Anaheim, Kossila played with the San Diego Gulls of the AHL. In 33 games with the Gulls this season, Kossila had nine goals, 18 assists and 27 points.
An All-NCHC selection at SCSU in 2015-16, Kossila ranks sixth in the team's career scoring with 153 points.  He ranks second on the team's career assist list with 105 assists from 2012-16 and he also had 48 goals during his collegiate career. Â
SCSU made four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances during the Kossila era. Â The Huskies also won the WCHA regular season title (2013), the NCHC regular title (2014) and the NCHCÂ Frozen Faceoff title (2016) during Kossila's time with the program.
Kossila is the 29th former SCSU player to skate in the NHL.  Other SCSU alumni who have played in the NHL this season include Matt Cullen (Pittsburgh), Hendricks (Edmonton), Kevin Gravel (Los Angeles), Nic Dowd (Los Angeles) and Nick Jensen (Detroit).
