#1 Huskies rally to capture 3-3 tie at Princeton on Dec. 29

Princeton, N.J. - The #1 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (12-2-2, 7-2-1 NCHC) rallied from a 3-1 third period deficit to bring home a 3-3 tie at Princeton University (6-7-2) on Friday, Dec. 29 in Princeton, N.J.
The Huskies opened the non-conference game at the historic Hobey Baker Rink with an unassisted goal by Easton Brodzinski at 13:42 of the first period. This was Brodzinski's sixth goal of the 2017-18 season. The host Tigers charged back with three unanswered goals to gain a 3-1 lead.
Princeton's first goal was posted by David Hallisey at 16:56 of the first period, which tied the score at 1-1. In the second period, Princeton pushed its lead to 2-1 with a goal at 13:58 by Eric Robinson. The Tigers finished their scoring attack in the third period with a power play marker by Ryan Kuffner at 7:57 that made it 3-1.
SCSU returned to the scoring column with some help from their special teams in the third period. On the power play, SCSU's Blake Winiecki scored his fifth goal of the season at 11:40 of the third. JImmy Schuldt and Jacob Benson each had assists on the play. This was Schuldt's team leading 15th assist of the season.
Schuldt then scored the game tying goal at 18:21 of the third period with a power play marker that was his sixth goal of the season (and 21st point of the year - best among all DI blueliners in 2017-18). Robby Jackson and Mikey Eyssimont each had assists on the play.
Both teams went scoreless in the OT session, which provided the Huskies with a 3-3 tie. SCSU was impressive in the third and overtime periods as the Huskies outshot the Tigers 27-6, which included 14 shots on goal in the OT session). On the night, SCSU outshot Princeton 40-28. On the power play, SCSU was 2-6 and Princeton was 1-5.
Jeff Smith was the goalie of record for SCSU with 25 saves and Ryan Ferland had 37 saves for Princeton.
