Men’s Basketball Hosts Top Two Teams in NSIC North Division This Weekend

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Cloud State men's basketball team (18-11, 14-6 NSIC) hosts the top two teams in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) North Division this weekend at Halenbeck Hall to close out the 2017 regular season. The program begins the weekend by welcoming in No. 21 MSU Moorhead (22-4, 17-3 NSIC) for an 8 p.m. game on Friday, Feb. 17. The team then sees Northern State (19-7, 15-5 NSIC) come to St. Cloud on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m. in the regular season finale.

Additionally, there is several promotions going on throughout each of the games this weekend. The game on Friday, Feb. 17, against MSU Moorhead is Military Appreciation Day - where all former and current military members can get in for free by showing their ID. The game is also Student Appreciation Day – where the first 125 students will be getting free pizza. The promotion on Saturday, Feb. 18, against Northern State University is a Beach Theme with all those in attendance encouraged to wear items that are beached themed. The game will also be a Dollar Hot Dog Night and Senior Night for SCSU players Mark Hall, Seth Mortag, Nebojsa Stanojevic and Scottie Stone.

Senior Career Highlights
Mark Hall (Round Lake, Ill.): Hall has played and started 58 games in his two years with the program. He has scored 489 points, grabbed 128 rebounds and handed out 168 assists. He scored a career-high 21 points against St. John's (11/20/15). He has reached double figures in points in 24 games in his career and led the team in assists 17 times.
Seth Mortag (Brookfield, Wis.): Mortag has played in 63 games with 20 starts in his three years as an active member of the program. He has scored 213 points, grabbed 147 rebounds and picked up 41 assists, 16 steals and 12 blocks. Mortag has three career double-doubles. He had a career night with 19 points and 11 rebounds against Crown College (12/30/15).
Nebojsa Stanojevic (Belgrade, Serbia): Stanojevic has played in 47 games with 13 starts in his two years with the program. He has scored 122 points, grabbed 173 rebounds, picked up 18 assists, eight steals and 40 blocks. He recorded a career-high 10 points against Northern State last season (2/12/16). He pulled down a career best 11 rebounds against the University of Mary last season (2/20/16).
Scottie Stone (Melrose, Minn.): Stone has played in 116 games with 77 starts in his four years with the program. He has scored 1,720 points, pulled down 395 rebounds, dished out 212 assists, has 19 blocks and 90 steals. Stone has scored in double figures in 84 games in his career including five games with 30 or more points. He scored a career-high 34 points against Wayne State last season (1/16/16). Stone has twice been named the NSIC North Player of the Week and was a Second Team All-NSIC selection last year. He is one of 40 players in school history with more than 1,000 career points. Stone is the school's all-time leader in both made threes (298) and attempted threes (705). He ranks fifth on the career scoring list. His 98 made threes this season are the second-most in a single season.

- The Dragons are coached by Chad Walthall, who is in his seventh year running the program.
- MSU Moorhead has won five straight games including victories over Bemidji State (102-78) and Minnesota Crookston (103-68) last weekend when they scored over 100 points in each contest.
- The Dragons have scored over 100 points in six different games this season.
- MSU Moorhead is the top shooting team in the conference at 52.2 percent from the field, 42.8 percent from three-point range and 76.6 percent from the free throw line.
- Four different players are scoring in double figures for the Dragons led by Adam Lien's 18.5 points per game.
- He is also shooting 58 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from three-point range.
- Tanner Kretchman checks in at 15.9 points per game and also ranks second in the NSIC in assists per game (6.7).
- Ayob Ayob is scoring at a 15.5 points per game clip and leads the team with 133 rebounds.
- Jon Doss averages 10.8 points per contest.
- Addison Parks is shooting 68 percent from the field as he averages 7.8 points per game.
Scouting Northern State
- The Wolves are coached by Paul Sather, who is in his fifth year running the program.
- Northern State have won seven of the last eight games after splitting the two games last weekend against Minnesota Crookston (W, 85-80 in OT) and Bemidji State (L, 63-59).
- The team is shooting 48.7 percent from the field, 40.6 percent from three-point range and 74.3 percent from the free throw line.
- The team has four players scoring in double figures led by Mack Arvidson's 15.8 points per game.
- Arvidson is shooting 41.5 percent from three-point range and has made 86 threes this season.
- Ian Smith checks in at 15 points per game while shooting 52 percent from the field and 46 percent from three-point range.
- Logan Doyle has averages of 14.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
- His rebounding average leads the conference.
- D.J. Pollard sports averages of 13.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
Prior Meetings
- St. Cloud State is 81-44 all-time against MSU Moorhead since the first game in 1932-33, but the Dragons have defeated SCSU in each of the last seven meetings including an 87-82 win earlier this season (1/21).
