St. Cloud, Minn.- The St. Cloud State women's basketball team will return to home court this weekend to close out the regular season of NSIC play by hosting #16 Minnesota State Moorhead and Northern State Feb. 17-18 at Halenbeck Hall.Â
The Huskies (11-13, 9-11 NSIC) will open the weekend against the #16 Minnesota State Moorhead (21-3, 18-2), who have already grasped this year's regular season conference title. The Huskies and the Dragons faced off less than a month ago up in Moorhead, with the Dragons defeating the Huskies 95-69. Betsy MacDonald led the Huskies with 14 points, while freshman Brianna Johnson grabbed 5 rebounds for the Huskies.Â
Tip-off for the game is set for 6 p.m., and the first 125 students to pile in will win free pizza!Â
The Huskies will then welcome in the Wolves of Norther State University on Feb. 18 for Senior Night. The Wolves (18-6, 14-6 NSIC) also defeated the Huskies earlier this season on their home court, downing St. Cloud State 78-58 in Aberdeen, S.D. Amanda Christianson put up 16 points to lead the Huskies, while Andrea Thomas grabbed 7 rebounds for the visitors.Â
Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. for the game. After the match with Northern State the Huskies will be honoring their two standout seniors, Betsy MacDonald and Chelsea Nooker. The two seniors have been the backbone to the Huskies' squad and have both amassed impressive resumes while in Huskies jerseys. Both have joined the 1,000 point club, and broken school records. The ceremony honoring MacDonald and Nooker will commence immediately following the game against Northern State.Â
Tickets are still available for both games and can be purchased at the gate, or at scsutickets.com. Students, don't forget that your student ID gets you into all home events for FREE!
