The #18 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (15-15-1, 9-11-1 NCHC) took it to overtime for the sixth time since the first of the year but a goal in the extra session by the #1 University of Denver's Henrik Borgstrom handed the Huskies a tough 4-3 loss in OT on Friday, Feb. 24 in Denver, Colo.
In a hard-fought battle, the Huskies rallied in the third period with a goal by Judd Peterson at 17:38 to tie the game with assists from Jake Wahlin and Jimmy Schuldt. Â The goal tied the score at 3-3 and forced the OT session for the two squads. Â

In the extra session, DU managed to outshoot the Huskies 3-1 and gain the game winner when Borgstrom scored at 3:44 of OT with assists from Troy Terry and Michael Davies.
Terry started the game's offense with a goal at 3:08 of the first period with assists from Borgstrom and Will Butcher. Â The lead was shortlived as SCSU's Mikey Eyssimont posted his 13th goal of the season at 5:05 of the first with helpers from Patrick Newell and Ryan Poehling. Â The assist was Newell's team-leading 20th of the year.
SCSU charged to a 2-1 lead with a marker by Jon Lizotte at 8:20 of the first. Â Eyssimont and Poehling each had assists on the play for the Huskies. Â This was Lizotte's second goal of the season.
To end the first period, Dylan Gambrell knotted the score at 2-2 with his goal at 2:09 with assists from Evan Janssen and Terry.  Gambrell lit the lamp again at 2:09 of the second period with his second goal of the evening with a solo assist credited to Janssen.  The goal made the score 3-2 before Peterson's third period goal tied it and sent the game to OT.  Of note, the goal was Peterson's 10th of the season and it snapped a 14-game goal scoring drought.
In the contest, DU outshot the Huskies 38-23. Â SCSU was 0-2 on the power and was 1-1 on the penalty kill in the game. Â Jeff Smith was the goalie of record for SCSU with 34 saves. Â Tanner Jaillet had 20 saves in the contest for the Pioneers.
