Women’s Basketball Rolls Over Bemidji State, 83-51

St. Cloud, Minn. – Senior Andrea Thomas scored 21 points to lead the St. Cloud State women's basketball team (8-4, 5-3 NSIC) to an 83-51 home victory over the Bemidji State (6-8, 2-6 NSIC) on Friday, Jan. 5, at Halenbeck Hall.
Besides 21 points, Thomas also had eight rebounds. Freshman Tori Wortz also reached double figures with 17 points plus five assists and four rebounds. Senior Amanda Christianson put up nine points and three rebounds. Redshirt junior Mallie Doucette picked up 14 points. Redshirt sophomore Brianna Johnson totaled seven rebounds.
Bemidji State were led by nine points from Sierra Senske. She also had seven rebounds.
The Huskies shot 43.3 percent from the field (29-for-67), 42.9 percent from three-point range (9-for-21) and 80 percent from the line (16-for-20). SCSU had 49 rebounds, 13 assists and three blocks in the game. Bemidji State shot 35.3 percent from the field (18-for-51), 28.6 percent from three-point range (6-for-21) and 69.2 percent from the foul line (9-for-13).
SCSU led 39-20 at the half after limiting the Beavers to only seven points in the second quarter. The team pouring it on and outscored Bemidji State 44-31 over the final 20 minutes. Bemidji State never were able to get a lead in the game. The Huskies largest lead of the game was 38 points, 83-45, on a made layup from Caitlyn Petersen with 2:53 to go in the contest.
The St. Cloud State women's basketball team keeps the home stand going and welcomes in Minnesota Crookston (2-10, 2-6 NSIC) on Jan. 6 at 4 p.m.

- This was the fifth time that Andrea Thomas has led the team in scoring this season after her 21 points against the Beavers
- The team improved to 7-2 when Tori Wortz reaches double figures as she had 17 against Bemidji State.
- She has scored in double figures in each of the last three games.
