A three-goal performance by freshman forward Sam Hentges sparked the #2/3 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (5-0-0, 0-0-0 NCHC) to a 7-0 victory at Boston College (0-4-0, 0-0-0 HE) on Thursday, Oct. 25 in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The victory extended the Huskies' win streak to five games as they head into a Saturday, Oct. 27 game at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. The game will be played at Matthews Arena and fans can listen to the game live on The River 96.7 FM. The game will also be televised lived on NESN Plus and a live video stream will be available on the Stretch Internet.

SCSU pushed its lead to 2-0 with a goal by blueliner Luke Jaycox at 17:17 of the first with assists from Spencer Meier and Robby Jackson. This was his first goal of the campaign and it was also Meier's first point as a collegiate player.
In the second period, SCSU moved the score to 3-0 with a goal by Jack Poehling at 11:43 with assists from Jimmy Schuldt and Kevin Fitzgerald. The goal was Poehling's first of the season, while it was also the first assist of the year for both Schuldt an Fitzgerald.
The Huskies pounced on the second goal of the second period with a marker by Hentges at 12:25. Schuldt and Fitzgerald both provided assists on the play. The goal scoring spree in the second period was completed by Nolan Walker with a goal at 13:02. Jacob Benson and Meier both added assists on the play, which capped a three-goal run for the Huskies that took 1:19 to complete and gave SCSU a 5-0 lead heading into the third.
In the third period, Hentges earned his hat trick with a goal at 4:44 as Jack Ahcan and Patrick Newell provided assists on the play. This was Hentges third goal of the game and his fourth goal of the young season. The assist was Newell's eighth point of the year and it extended his point scoring streak to five games this season.
Walker ended the game's scoring with his second goal of the night at 18:09. Nick Perbix and Ahcan each had assists on the play for the Huskies. The goal was Walker's third of the season and it extended his point scoring streak to five games this year. The assist was also Ahcan's team-leading ninth point of the season and it pushed his point scoring streak to five games this year.
In the nets, David Hrenak helped SCSU earn its second consecutive shutout with his 32 save victory. This was Hrenak's first shutout since a 4-0 win at Miami in 2017-18. On the penalty kill, SCSU was 3-3 and it was also 0-3 on the power play in the contest.
GAME NOTES:
This marked the first time since a 7-4 win at Omaha on Dec. 1, 2017 that SCSU scored 7 goals in a game.
This was also first time since a 7-0 win at home against Arizona State on Jan. 2, 2016 that the Huskies have won a game by seven goals.
Hentges hat trick was the first hat trick for a Husky since Robby Jackson posted three goals at Arizona State on Dec. 31, 2016
The last time SCSU posted two consecutive shutouts was a 4-0 win and a 3-0 win against Minnesota State at the HBNHC on Oct. 16-17.
