SCSU Swim and Dive sweeps UW-Eau Claire on Nov. 17

The St. Cloud State men's and women's swim and dive team collected a pair of home victories over University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Nov. 17 at the Halenbeck Hall Aquatic Complex. The SCSU women's team posted a 223-77 victory and the men's team rolled to a 219-80 victory in St. Cloud, Minn.

The Huskies captured first place in 27 of the events in the duals against UWEC. The day opened with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay for SCSU with a time of 1:50.12. The team was comprised of Annie Hart, Alexis Burroughs, Jennifer Thompson and Chelsea Gehrke. The men's 200 medley relay team of Anthony Schwartz, Connor Deitrich, Kyle Weis and William Nguyen also won the event with a time of 1:35.42.
In the men's 1000 free, David Clossey took the top spot at 10:21.85. The wins continued in the 200 free as Thompson won the women's event at 1:58.63 and Joel Huth won the men's 200 free at 1:44.61. The Huskies also swept the 100 backstroke event with a win by Annie Hart at 58.83 and Schwartz coming in with a winning time of 51.38 in the men's event.
In the women's 100 breaststroke, Burroughs scored a top time of 1:09.00 and Deitrich won the men's side with a time of 59.74. Success continued in the 200 fly with a win by Kristilee McCadden with a time of 2:17.41 in the women's event and a winning time of 1:58.36 by Robert Leigh in the men's 200 fly.
Thompson added another win in the 50 free with a time of 24.11, while Nguyen was second in the men's 50 free at 21.95.
Three-time NSIC diver of the week Britin Thomsen scored a pair of wins at the meet with a first place finish in the 1M diving at 263.70 and a top score of 274.00 in the 3M diving. Of note, SCSU took the top four spots in both women's diving events vs. UWEC. On the men's side, Hanos Mahari placed second in the 1M event and Scott Stellick won the 3M event with a score of 289.55.
In the women's 200 backstroke, Hart posted a first place finish at 2:09.49 and Schwartz took the top spot on the men's side with a time of 1:55.38. In the 200 breaststroke, Whitney Fuse placed first for the women at 2:35.59 and Nguyen won the men's 200 breaststroke at 2:12.61.
The wins continued to roll in for SCSU as Kristilee McCadden won the top spot in the women's 500 free at 5:24.70, and Clossey won the men's 500 free at 5:00.34. In the 100 fly, Gehrke won the women's event with a time of 1:00.12. In the men's 100 fly, Kyle Weis scored a first place time of 52.96.
Brooke Calvin added a first place finish in the women's 200 IM with a time of 2:16.65 and Schwartz won the men's 200 IM with a time of 2:01.23.
To wrap up the duals, SCSU won the women's 200 free relay with a time of 1:40.02. The winning team consisted of Gehrke, Christina Ware, Burroughs and Paige Lay. The men's 200 free relay team of Nguyen, Deitrich, Zack Bueling and Joel Huth also won with a time of 1:27.62.
SCSU will continue its 2018-19 season on Nov. 30-Dec. 2 with a trip to the 2018 Rochester Invitational in Rochester, Minn.
