Huskies to Host Mustangs, Cougars Before Holiday Break

ST. CLOUD, MINN. - Following an eventful ending to a North Dakota road trip courtesy of Madelin Dammann's game-winning buzzer beater on Saturday over Minot State, the St. Cloud State women's basketball team returns home for a pair of NSIC South match-up's this weekend. The Huskies will host the SMSU Mustangs on Friday, Dec. 14 at 5:30 PM and the USF Cougars on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 3:30 PM.Â

LAST MINUTE MAGIC IN MINOT
Madelin Dammann's fadeaway jumper at the end of regulation in last Saturday's contest gave SCSU their first NSIC win of the season, a 61-60 victory over Minot State. SCSU fell 47-59 on Friday night to the U-Mary Marauders on the road.Â
SCSU is currently sitting at the five spot in the NSIC North rankings although they are ranked as the second highest scoring defense (55.1 avg/g) along with holding a third-best turnover margin (5.71) while averaging the fifth most three pointer's per game at 6.9.
WEEKEND STREAKS
11 SCSU is 11-0 in meetings against the Mustangs since 2010. The Huskies last loss to SMSU came on Feb. 2, 2010 after a 44-66 loss at Halenbeck Hall.
6 The Huskies have not beaten USF in regular season play since 2011 when the teams met for the first time. Since then, the Cougars have won the last six regular season contests. SCSU's only other win over the Cougars came in post-season play when the Huskies defeated USF 87-76 in the 2015 NSIC Tournament.Â

Meleah Reinhart and Erin Baxter are each also averaging at least 11 points per game. As a team, the Mustangs are averaging the fifth most points per game (73.1) despite averaging the least amount of defensive rebounds in the conference (42.4).Â

Lauren Sanders is shooting 66.7 percent from beyond the arc for a team high while Hannah Jones is posting 6.1 rebounds per game. As a team, the Cougars enter Saturday's match-up as the number two team in the NSIC South and are the second highest scoring offense in the conference. USF is out-scoring their opponents by 23.4 points (1st in NSIC) while also averaging 10.25 steals per game (3rd in NSIC).Â
