SCSU's Devin FitzPatrick named Oxton Award winner at 2018 Holiday Inn/Huskies Open

St. Cloud State's Devin FitzPatrick captured the John Oxton Tournament Most Valuable Wrestler award at the 2018 Holiday Inn/Huskies Open, which was hosted by the #1 Huskies in the Halenbeck Hall Fieldhouse on Dec. 8.

FitzPatrick gained the top honor at the meet with a first place finish in the 165-pound bracket. He posted a 5-4 victory over Division I rival Kenny O'Neil in the title bout. On the way to first place, FitzPatrick also gained a 6-5 win over Alfred Daniel of Rochester C.C. and a 4-2 victory over Ryan Epps of Augsburg.

SCSU also had other first place finishers at the tournament including Joey Bianchini at 141-pounds, Gannon Hughes at 157-pounds, Hunter Grau at 174-pounds, Tyree Overton at 184-pounds and Brady Reigstad at 285-pounds.
