Preview: Huskies to Close Out Regular Season on the Road

The Huskies were 3-0 in NSIC play last week. On Tuesday, Andrea Thomas scored a career high of 25 points in SCSU's 71-65 victory.
On Friday, Brianna Johnson recorded a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds) to accompany Thomas' 16 points in the Huskies' 60-53 win over U-Mary.
SCSU's senior presence showed strong on Saturday in the Huskies' 70-61 win over Minot State. Amanda Christianson and Thomas combined for 28 of St. Cloud State's 70 points.
Andrea Thomas was named the NSIC North Player of the Week after averaging 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and three assists over three games last week.
Thomas is the first SCSU women's basketball player to be named NSIC North Player of the Week since Chelsea Nooker took home the honors on Jan. 16 of last season.

Looking to defend their five game winning streak, the Huskies are hitting the road to face off against the Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons (21-3, 18-2 NSIC) on Friday, Feb. 16 at 6 PM and the Northern State Wolves on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 4 PM.

Preview: MSU Moorhead vs. St. Cloud State

Four of the Dragons' starters are averaging more than ten points per game.
Jacky Volkert (14.3 points per game, 5.4 assists per game) is the 6th highest scorer on average, per game in the NSIC while she ranks second in the conference in assists per game.
Drew Sannes (13.9 points per game) is shooting 39.3 percent from three-point range and is the averages the 9th most points per game in the NSIC.
Megan Hintz (11.8 points per game) is shooting 58.1 percent from the field.
Cassidy Thorson is averaging 10.5 points per game while shooting 33.0 percent from three-point range (2nd in NSIC).
Thorson is also averaging 2.6 three-pointers made per game, which is the most in the NSIC this season.
The Dragons are currently on a 15 game winning streak. Their last loss came against Northern State by a score of 69-65.

Series History: MSU Moorhead Dragons

Since 1972, the Huskies are 32-24 all-time against the Dragons.
This season, Moorhead snapped the Huskies' six game winning streak, which included an upset win over nationally-ranked, Northern State.
In the contest, the Huskies fell by a score of 54-78 with Cassidy Thorson scoring 15 points and shooting 5-11 from three-point range.
Andrea Thomas and Amanda Christianson each scored ten points in the loss.
Nikki Kilboten added seven points off of the bench while blocking four shots.

Preview: Northern State vs. St. Cloud State

The Wolves are led offensively by Miranda Ristau and Jill Conrad.
Ristau is averaging 19.4 points per game (Most in NSIC).
Ristau also leads the conference in field goal percentage (56.1 percent) and is second in blocked shots per game (2.3)
Conrad leads the NSIC in assists and is scoring 12.3 points per game (18th in NSIC).
As a team, Northern State is leading the NSIC in field goal percentage (47.3), three-point field goal percentage (39.8), rebounding defense (29.7 per game) and assists (19.4 per game).

Series History: Northern State Wolves

SCSU is 5-14 all-time against Northern State since the start of the series in 1995.
The Huskies upset the Wolves, 61-57 in January when they were ranked #22 nationally.
In the contest, Tori Wortz recorded 11 points and four rebounds while Amanda Christianson and Madelin Dammann each recorded 10 points.
Miranda Ristau had a game-high of 16 points and nine rebounds.

Last Time Out

MSU Moorhead holds a first place lead in the NSIC North standings, while Northern State trails in second and St. Cloud State follows in third.
In the recently released regional standings, the Dragons are currently ranked third while the Wolves are fifth in the region.
Next weekend is the start of post-season play in the NSIC, with first round action beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
The last time SCSU advanced past the first round was in the 2014-15 season
