Huskies Roll Past Bulldogs 71-65, Andrea Thomas Records Career-High of 25 Points

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Andrea Thomas' career-high, 25-point performance carried the St. Cloud State women's basketball team (15-7, 12-6 NSIC) over the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs (13-9, 10-8 NSIC) on Tuesday night, Feb. 6 at Romano Gymnasium on the campus of the University of Minnesota Duluth.
After trailing by nine at halftime, and not controlling a lead until mid-way through the fourth quarter, St. Cloud State emerged victorious off of a 20 point second half by senior, Andrea Thomas. Amanda Christianson also contributed 10 points in the second-half surge, shooting 100 percent (2-2) from three-point range. The Huskies scored 13 points off of UMD's six second-half turnovers, while holding the Bulldogs to 29 points in the half.
Andrea Thomas (25), Amanda Christianson (16) and Brianna Johnson (13) were the three starters who scored in double figures for the Huskies. Sophomore, Madelin Dammann recorded eight points and three assists. Tori Wortz had a team-high of six assists in the game.
As a team, SCSU shot 55.6 percent (22-45) from the field, 50 percent (7-14) from three-point range and 66.7 percent (14-21) from the free-throw line. The Huskies totaled three blocks, four steals and out-rebounded the Bulldogs, 35-25.
The Bulldogs were led by Katie Stark's 13 points and three rebounds while Emma Boehm and Sarah Grow each scored 12 points as well. Sammy Kozlowski recorded a game-high of 13 assists. As a team, the Bulldogs shot 40 percent (28-65) from the field, 50 percent (9-18) from three-point range and 100 percent (4-4) from the free-throw line.
St. Cloud State finishes out their home regular season schedule this weekend against the University of Mary Marauders on Friday night at 6 PM and the Minot State Beavers on Saturday night at 4 PM. Tickets are available at scsutickets.com or 1-877-SCSUTIX.
