Huskies Hockey Announces Team Awards for 2017-18 Season

After claiming their second Penrose Cup in program history, the St. Cloud State men's hockey team announced their team awards following a 25-9-6 (16-4-4 NCHC) 2017-18 season. The Huskies were the top seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
Leroy Radovich Alumni Award, Outstanding Senior: Judd Peterson
In his four years for the Huskies, the forward recorded 37 goals, 29 assists and 66 points in 148 total games. Peterson appeared in at least 35 games in each of his four years with SCSU, and played in all 40 games in his senior season.
Peterson was a two-time All-NCHC Academic selection, a finalist for the NCHC's Sportsmanship Award and a 2017-18 Senior CLASS Award® All-America Second team selection for NCAA® DI Men's Hockey.
Following his career with the Huskies, Peterson inked a contract with Buffalo Sabres affiliate, the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League.

Jimmy Schuldt returns to the Huskies for the 2018-19 season after being named a Hobey Baker finalist, an All-NCHC First Team selection, an All-NCHC Academic team selection, a NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete, a four-time NCHC defensive player of the week nominee and the HCA National Player of the Month (October) in his junior year. Schuldt was also named to the All-USCHO.com First Team, All-CHN First Team and a First-Team West All-American in 2018. After three seasons with Huskies, Schuldt ranks third-all time in SCSU history for plus/minus at 44. In the 2017-18 season, the defenseman accumulated 38 points, with 10 goals and 28 assists (T-4th in NCAA for defensemen). Schuldt ranked seventh in the nation amongst defensemen with his +19 plus/minus in 2018. Of note, Schuldt also blocked 84 shots in his junior season. After leading the team in goals with 17 in his junior season, Mikey Eyssimont enjoyed a historic career at SCSU before forgoing his senior year and signing a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Kings. Eyssimont played in 115 career games for the Huskies and finished with 101 total points. In his third year with SCSU, Eyssimont logged 39 points with 22 assists to compliment his 17 goals. In 2018, Eyssimont was named to the All-NCHC Second Team as well as the All-NCHC Academic team for the third consecutive season. After enjoying a three year career with the USHL's Cedar Rapids Roughriders where he scored 20 goals and tallied 44 assists, Clark Kuster joined the Huskies in 2015. In his three years, Kuster has been named to the All-NCHC Academic team three times. Kuster was also named a NCHC Scholar-Athlete Award in 2017 and 2018.
Dave Torrey Award, Outstanding Goaltender: David Hrenak
In his first season as the Huskies' goalie, David Hrenak posted a 14-7-2 record with three shutouts and a .919 save percentage. Hrenak also holds the SCSU career record for goals against average with an impressive 2.12. For his efforts as a freshman for the Huskies, Hreneak was named to the NCHC All-Rookie team as well as a finalist for the NCHC's Rookie of the Year and NCHC Goaltender of the Year. Hrenak was also named one of ten semifinalists for the Mike Richter Award which recognizes the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA Division I men's hockey by Let's Play Hockey and the Herb Brooks Foundation. Roland Vandell Award, Outstanding First Year Player: Blake Lizotte

Freshman forward, Blake Lizotte enjoyed a successful 2018 campaign where he appeared in all but one game for the Huskies. In his freshman season, Lizotte scored eight goals and recorded 19 assists to put him at 27 points for the season. He had a +16 plus/minus and recorded two game-winning goals against Omaha and Miami (OH).
