INDIANAPOLIS, MINN. – For the first time since 2004, the St. Cloud State University volleyball team is headed to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament.
After a historic season, the Huskies earned the No. 5 seed in the NCAA Regional, which will be hosted in Kearney, Nebraska December 5-7. The team's round foe will be a familiar one, as St. Cloud State is slotted to face Northern State University in the opening round of the tournament at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Thanks to what has already been a historic season, the Huskies earned an at-large bid and ended their 15-year postseason drought, as they will make their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2004. Joining St. Cloud State from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) is Minnesota-Duluth, Concordia-St. Paul and Northern State, the Huskies first round opponent, all of whom are ranked in the top-10 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll.
In addition to its NCAA Tournament bid, St. Cloud State staid steady as the #7 team in the nation in the latest AVCA rankings. Joining the Huskies in the top-10? The usual suspects: Concordia-St. Paul (#3), Minnesota-Duluth (#6) and Northern State (#8).
More information regarding the NCAA Regional will be available in the upcoming weeks, including tournament match times, ticket prices, media coverage, lodging information and the official tournament website.
