The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (4-6-4, 2-4-0 NCHC) will continue its 2019-20 season with a pair of home games at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center on Dec. 13-14 against NCHC rival Omaha (6-6-2, 1-4-1 NCHC).  The Huskies and Mavericks will play game one of the series at 7:37 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 and then complete the series with a 6:07 p.m. game on Saturday, Dec. 14.  Both games will be played at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.
CELEBRATIING 30 YEARS AT THE HERB BROOKS NATIONAL HOCKEY CENTER: The Huskies will be celebrating the 30th year of playing in the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in 2019-20. SCSU's first game at the HBNHC was on Dec. 16, 1989 against Northern Michigan. The Huskies won that game by a score of 5-4. Since that time, SCSU owns a 344-179-58 record at the HBNHC.
TEDDY BEAR TOSS SET FOR DEC. 14:   Fans should plan to bring a new or gently used Teddy Bear or stuffed animal toy to the SCSU-Omaha game on Saturday, Dec. 14 for the annual Teddy Bear Toss.  Fans can throw their Teddy Bears onto the ice during the first intermission and all toys collected will be donated ot the area's Toys For Tots Campaign to help the area's needy during the 2019 holiday season.  For ticket information on these games vs. Omaha, please visit scsutickets.com or call 1-877-SCSUTIX.

 SWEEP AT MIAMI:  The Huskies earned their first weekend sweep of 2019-20 with 2-1 and 5-3 wins at Miami on Dec. 6-7.  On the opening night in Oxford, SCSU had goals from Jami Krannila and Luke Jaycox to capture the victory, which was highlight by Jaycox' goal at 19:34 of the third.  David Hrenak made 20 saves in the contest for SCSU...on Dec. 7, SCSU's Nick Poehling, Jack Poehling, Specner Meier (PPG), Sam Hentges and Kevin Fitzgerald all scored goals in the 5-3 victory.  On the night, Nick Poehling had 1g/2a and Jack Ahcan had two assists.  Hrenak earned the goalie win with 27 saves in the game. SCSU outshot Miami in both games and improved to 4-6-4, 2-4-0 NCHC on the season.
 STEPPING INTO THE SPOTLIGHT:  Luke Jaycox posted the first game winning goal of his career during the Huskies' 2-1 win over Miami.  He now has two goals this season and five goals in his career, which spans 92 games..

Andrej TrejbalFIRST POINT: Rookie blueliner Andrej Trejbal scored his first collegiate point with an assist on Sam Hentges' goal on Dec. 7.  A resident of the Czech Republic, Trejbal played junior hockey at Minnesota in the NAHL last year.  He is one of six international student-athletes on the SCSU roster this winter.
   PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Jack Ahcan was named the NCHC Defensive Player of the Week on Dec. 9.  He had an impressive weekend with three assists, two blocks, six shots and was +4 in the series vs. Miami.  Ahcan now has 91 career points (17g/74a) and is tied with Andrew Prochno (2011-15) for fourth on the Huskies' career points by a defenseman list.  SCSU's all-time leader on defense is Jimmy Schuldt, who had 118 points from 2015-19.  He also ranks 19th in the team records with 74 career assists and 38th with 91 points.
 TIGHT PENALTY KILL: The Huskies were impressive on the penalty kill at Miami going 4-of-4 on Friday and 1-of-1 on the Saturday.  The game on Dec. 7 marked the second time this season that SCSU was called for just one penalty. The Huskies also had one penalty against Bemidji State on Oct. 12.
 TOP FIVE: As we head into the weekend games vs. Omaha, Sam Hentges ranks fifth in the nation with a scoring average of 1.43 ppg.  He has 7 goals, 13 assists and 20 points this winter, which includes a goal on Dec. 7 and an assist on Dec. 6.  His impressive start this year has seen Hentges put points on the board in all but one game in 2019-20.  Hentges brings a four-game point streak into the Omaha series.  His only pointless game was on Nov. 16 vs. CC.  His goal on Dec. 7 was Hentges' 40th career point at SCSU (17g/23a).  Hentges is a draft pick of the Minnesota Wild.
 STOP FORCE: David Hrenak backstopped the Huskies to their first two NCHC wins of 2019-20 at Miami.  He now owns a 3.05 GAA and a 4-6-4 record this winter, which includes 329 saves.  The 2-1 win on Dec. 6 was Hrenak's 40th career victory at SCSU.  He now owns a 41-18-8 record with the Huskies and a 2.33 career GAA.
 NOTES AND NEWS: Nolan Walker's next game played for SCSU will be his 50th career game for the Huskies...SCSU has enjoyed success vs. Miami in recent meetings, which includes a nine-game unbeaten streak dating back to a 3-2 OT loss on March 10, 2018.  Since that time, SCSU owns a 7-0-2 record vs. the RedHawks...Nick Poehling charted big numbers in the weekend at Miami.  He came back from Oxford with one goal, two assists, nine shots, 6 blocks and was +3.  On the season, Nick Poehling now has 4g/4a...Spencer Meier gained his second power play goal of the season for the Huskies at Miami on Dec. 7...Jack Poehling leads SCSU on the +/- at +5 this season...Nick Poehling leads the Huskies with 45 shots on goal in 2019-20.
 OMAHA NOTES: SCSU head coach Brett Larson owns a 4-0-0 record in games vs. Omaha...the last time Omaha posted a victory at the HBNHC was on Dec. 10, 2016 (a 3-1 SCSU loss).  Since that game, SCSU has charted nine consecutive wins vs. Omaha, which includes three shutouts...last year, SCSU defeated Omaha by scores of 2-0 and 7-1 in St. Cloud...Mike Gabinet is in his third season as the head coach at Omaha. He is a 2004 Omaha grad served as an assistant coach at Omaha in 2016-17. He played college hockey at Omaha and played eight seasons of pro hockey in North America and Europe...the Mavericks own a 9-17-2, 5-12-1 NCHC record this year...SCSU is 24-10-2 in the all-time series against Omaha and 6-0-0 against Omaha at the Baxter Arena and 9-6-1 vs. UNO at the HBNHC...the series started on Jan. 9, 1998 with a 2-1 win by the Huskies in St. Cloud, Minn...SCSU is 5-0-0 in the last five outings against the Mavericks and 9-1-0 in the last 10 games against Omaha...last year, SCSU posted a 2-0 and 7-1 series sweep against Omaha at the HBNHC on Dec. 7-8, 2018. In Omaha, the Huskies rolled to a 4-1 and 5-0 series sweep and also clinched the Penrose Cup at the Baxter Arena on Feb. 22 and Feb. 23, 2019...Jake Wahlin has 4g/3a in play against Omaha and Nick Poehling has 2g/5a vs. UNO...David Hrenak is 6-0-0 against Omaha with 145 saves...Kevin Conley leads Omaha this season with 6g/8a and Tyler Weiss has 2g/9a...Isaiah Saville, a Vegas Golden Knights draftee, is 5-4-2 in the nets with a 2.96 GAA for Omaha this season...Former Husky Jimmy Schuldt's brother plays defense for Omaha (#5 John Schuldt).
NCHC CHAMPS:  The Huskies claimed the 2018-19 NCHC championship with a 5-0 win at Omaha on Feb. 23. This marks the third time the Huskies have won the Penrose Cup, which is the most of any team in the NCHC.  SCSU also won the NCHC regular season title in 2014, 2018 and 2019.
