Huskies Look To Start The New Year Off With A Weekend Sweep over Minnesota-Crookston and Bemidji

ST. CLOUD, MINN. - After a short break the 6-4 (3-3 NSIC) St. Cloud State University Women's basketball team will be back in action to bring in the New Year. The Huskies are taking on 2-8 (1-5 NSIC) University of Minnesota Crookston and 6-4 (3-3 NSIC) Bemidji State University in Halenbeck Hall.

Fri., January 3 at 5:30 p.m. the Huskies will take on Minnesota-Crookston. Last season, St. Cloud State swept the Golden Eagles in their two regular season meetings. The first matchup, the Huskies took down Minnesota-Crookston 68-58 on the road. The two teams met again for the final game of the season and SCSU won 77-68. St. Cloud State will be looking to take game one of the season series with their stout defense and stellar offense.

Sat., January 4 at 3:30 p.m. St. Cloud State will close the weekend out with Bemidji State. The Huskies bested BSU three times last year. SCSU won both regular season matchups and even took down the Beavers during their impressive post-season run. The Huskies and Beavers matchup well and come in with the same record. Taking game one of the series and game two of the weekend will go a long way in the NSIC standing with St. Cloud State and Bemidji are tied at fourth lace in the Northern division.

St. Cloud State Top Performers – The Huskies have four players that come into the weekend averaging double-digit points. Madelin Dammann leads the team offensively with 12.6 points per contest. Dammann is also shooting 83.3 percent from the charity stripe. Tori Wortz is averaging 12.2 points per game while shooting a team high 84.6 percent from the free throw line. Katrina Theis is thrird in team scoring with 11.9 points per game. Theis is shooting 62.5 percent from deep. Nikki Kilboten rounds out the top four scorers with 10.8 points per game. Kilboten has tallied two double-doubles on the season.
