ST. CLOUD, MINN. – The St. Cloud State University women's basketball team will be back at home in Halenbeck Hall hosting University of Mary and Minot State University. After dropping their first NSIC game of the season to Minnesota-Duluth, the Huskies will be looking to bounce back with a weekend sweep. SCSU is now 3-2 (1-0 NSIC) on the season.
Fri., December 6, the Huskies will be taking on UMary at 5:30 p.m. in hopes of getting back in the win column. UMary comes into this weekend's matchup with a 7-3 (1-0 NSIC) mark this season. The Marauders have played five more games than St. Cloud State up to this point which could play in the favor of UMary. Last season, the Marauders split the two games against the Huskies, with the former winning in dominant fashion on their home court. SCSU will be looking for its first conference win of the season by continuing to make teams uncomfortable with their strong defense and capitalize on forced turnovers.
Sat., December 7, SCSU will host Minot State University, 3-2 (1-0 NSIC) at 3:30 p.m. to close out their two game home series. Last season, the Huskies won both matchups.
Live stats and video will be available during the game, and fans can also listen to play-by-play on Granite City Sports. Be sure to follow the team's official Twitter page (@SCSUHUSKIES_WBB) for up to date highlights and score alerts.
HERE ARE FIVE THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE TIP-OFF:
7- Senior Madelin Dammann needs just eight three pointers to tie former Husky and current coach Jessica Hartman. Dammann will then move into seventh place all time in SCSU women's basketball history. Damman is also leading the team in points per game with 12.8.
56.3 – Junior Nikki Kilboten is shooting 56.3 percent from the field up to this point in the season. Kilboten is also averaging 12.4 points per game. She continues to be a staple in the post.
13.2 – The Huskies come into the weekend averaging 13.2 assists per game.
9.8 – SCSU is third in the conference in steals per game with 9.8. The St. Cloud State defense continues to make it hard for teams to take good shots. The SCSU defense also forces multiple turnovers which makes it hard for teams to truly play their game.
24 – Monday, against Minnesota Duluth, the Huskies recorded 24 fouls which helped the Bulldogs get to the line 21 times. Both teams come into this weekend shooting a combined percentage around 70. In order to ensure a sweep the Huskies defense needs to avoid fouling.
