
SCSU Drops Game One of the Weekend to Bemidji State

The St. Cloud State Women's hockey team faced off against Bemidji State Beavers at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minnesota at 3:07pm. The road series began with the Beavers scoring at 8:53 into the first period to take an early lead over the Huskies. Just thirteen seconds later, freshman Klara Hymlarova tallied her third career goal to tie the score. Hymlarova was assisted by junior Laura Kluge. A couple minutes later, Lydia Passolt gave the Beavers the lead again scoring at 11:44 in the first period.

The Huskies took two early penalties in the second period giving the Beavers a 5-on-3 advantage, however, the Huskies successfully killed off both penalties. The Huskies also had one power-play opportunity, but struggled to capitalize. Junior goaltender Emma Polusny came up with 15 big saves in the second for the Huskies as the period went scoreless allowing the Beavers to keep their one goal lead.
The Beavers scored an early third period goal just twenty-three seconds in to give them a two-goal lead over the Huskies. Both teams had one power-play opportunity apiece in the third period, however, both teams came up with a successful penalty-kill. The Huskies held the Beavers to 0-3 on the powerplay during today's contest. At 11:47 into the third, Kara Werth scored a fourth goal for the Beavers. The remaining eight minutes of the period went scoreless as Bemidji defeated the Huskies 4-1. Emma Polusny stopped 36 shots for the Huskies.
The two teams face off for game two of the series tomorrow, December 7th at 2:07pm at the Sanford Center.
