ST. CLOUD, MINN. – It's all coming together for the St. Cloud State University women's basketball team. As the regular season winds down, the Huskies are playing their best basketball of the season, and Friday evening's game against Bemidji State University was no exception. St. Cloud State's outstanding defensive and offensive play once again resulted in a win, as the team took down Bemidji State 68-47.
From the very get go, it was all Huskies both offensively and defensively, as the team jumped out to an early 34-18 lead after the first half. Fueled by Madelin Dammann's (Waconia, Minn. / Waconia) 11 point, six rebound performance, St. Cloud State led 20-11 after the first quarter and only extended its lead from there. As a team, St. Cloud State forced eight Bemidji State turnovers while tallying five steals and four blocks in the first and second quarter, allowing the team to hold a 34-18 lead at the half.
The Huskies didn't let up in the second half either, as they continued to tack on to their lead in the final 20 minutes of play. After a quiet first half, sophomore guard Tori Wortz (Hutchinson, Minn. / Hutchinson) hit her stride, as she scored all 15 of her points in the second hald of the ball game. Dammann continued to shoot with a hot hand, as she scored seven points in the final two quarters, concluding the game with a team-leading 18 points in 19 minutes of play.
In total, St. Cloud State saw three student-athletes score in double-digits, while the team's defense tallied seven blocks, nine steals and forced 14 Beaver turnovers. Nikki Kilboten (Eau Claire, Wis. / North) led the way defensively for the Huskies, with four blocks, a steal and four defensive rebounds. Brehna Evans (De Pere, Wis. / West De Pere) led the team with three steals, while five other student-athletes tallied at least one steal Friday evening.

Wortz ended the game with 15 points, while Katrina Theis (Maple Grove, Minn. / Maple Grove) scored in double-digits for the second straight game with 10 points and five rebounds.
With the win, the Huskies overall record improves to 16-9 and they are now 13-8 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play. St. Cloud State will close the regular at home on Saturday, February 23 when the team hosts the University of Minnesota-Crookston at 3:30 p.m.
