St. Cloud State men's and women's swim and dive teams sweep UWL

The St. Cloud State University men's and women's swim and dive teams chalked up a dual meet sweep of Wisconsin-LaCrosse on Thursday, Jan. 16 at the Halenbeck Hall Aquatic Complex in St. Cloud, Minn. The SCSU women's team scored a 166-77 victory, while the #24 ranked SCSU men's team posted a 153-78 win over UWL.
COMPLETE MEET RESULTS
The Huskies will complete their 2019-20 regular season schedule on Saturday, Jan. 18 with a home dual meet against NCAA DI rival South Dakota State. The meet has been designated as SCSU Senior Day and Parents Day for the Huskies.
In action against UWL, the SCSU women's team won 11 of the meet's 13 events. The Huskies' charge was led by Rebecca Stone, who set a new school record on the 3M borard (six dive) with a score of 300.40. The old record was held by the legendary Mary Ahlin with a score of 294.65. In the same event, SCSU's Madison Brinkman (2nd), Alyssa Doherty (3rd) and Meredith Matchinsky (4th) rounded out the top four spots.
In the 1-meter diving event, Brinkman placed first with a score of 273.50, while Stone placed second with a score of 272.50, Matchinsky was third at 260.20 and Doherty was fourth at 254.05.
SCSU opened the meet with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.51. In the women's 1000 free, Andrea Rodriguez placed first with a time of 10:56.30, and Chelsea Gehrke won the 200 free at 1:56.53.
The wins continued for SCSU in the women's 50 free with Kasey Milstroh posting a first place time of 24.64 and Rosalind Pang won the 200 IM at 2:14.37. Milstroh returned to win the 100 fly at 59.45 and Gehrke repeated in the 100 free with a time of 53.64.
In the 100 backstroke, SCSU's Marena Kouba placed first at 59.83 and SCSU's 200 free relay of Leann Mengelkoch, Alaine Friske, Rosalind Pang and Christina Ware placed first at 1:41.29.
In the men's competition, SCSU's foursome of Kyle Weis, Jayden Porter, Sam Artz and Abe Townley placed first at 1:36.16 in the 200 medley relay. In the 1000 free, Gavin Bloch placed first with a time of 10:07.42, and Townley won the 50 free at 20.87.
Matheus Laperriere added a first place finish in the 200 IM at 1:59.52 and Joel Huth won the 100 free with a winning time of 47.69.
In the men's diving events, Evan Infante won the 1M event with a score of 223.50 and also won the 3M event with a score of 277.20.
SCSU's Weis placed first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.06 and Laperriere added a second win in the 500 free with a time of 4:57.63. To complete the evening, SCSU's 200 free relay squad of Townley, Huth, Laperriere and Nick Gehling won with a time of 1:25.32.
